4. What has been the relationship between the Internet and FMU?
One other thing that sets WFMU apart from other stations is our approach to technology. We began streaming over the internet very early, sometime in 1997, and ever since, we’ve made special efforts to incorporate the internet and new technology in everything we do. As our society moves in the direction of on-demand content, we are happy to provide our listeners with new ways of experiencing WFMU.
We have one of the largest archives of radio programming out there (going back almost 10 years), a very popular blog, we connect with listeners on Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter, and we even host alternate streams of rock and roll and avant garde programming. WFMU has many great podcasts, and we were the first radio station to stream to the iPhone (before the days of apps).
